The flights - Emirates really know how to look after their customers. The flights were on time, the seats were roomy and comfortable, the in-flight entertainment and food were good and the service was superb. They’re probably the best airline we’ve ever flow with.
Tamarind Tours – excellent from start to finish. We were always met on time and with a smile. When we were met at the airport I was presented with some flowers for my birthday (still celebrating 5 months on – but this was more than I had in New York so I wasn’t complaining!) The guides were excellent and Sunil, the driver was superb. He must have had nerves of steel to drive through Delhi in particular which was just mad and we can’t believe we didn’t see one accident. As you know, the traffic just merges and people move lanes without signalling or slowing down, they just beep, and there’s no road rage – it works but I don’t know how!
The hotels – once again they were excellent apart from Paradise Hotel in Jaipur. The Claridges in Delhi was lovely – traditional, courteous staff, lovely room with comfortable bed and extremely clean room. There were more flowers on arrival, two dozen red roses, and a chocolate cake for my birthday – yay! ITC Mughal was exceptional – the reception area certainly had the wow factor! I can’t praise the staff and the facilities enough here. Even the observation deck for the Taj Mahal was spot on and the view was far better than I’d imagined. The head waiter really took us under his wing and even though we’d really finished breakfast, he brought out Indian delights for us to try which was really going the extra mile. The staff really looked after us well – no complaints whatsoever.
The tours – the guides were all extremely knowledgeable, especially the chap who met us in Agra, although I have to confess that after a while one fort/temple/palace faded into the next and the stories were muddled in my head! The highlight was definitely the Taj Mahal and our guide ensured we were up early and we were the first in the queue so a lot of my photos have nobody in them, which is superb! I’d rate the trips 10 out of 10 and would definitely recommend Tamarind Tours – they really know what they’re doing.
